Indian Idol 4 auditions in the UK – Date and Venue details

After the huge success of Indian Idol 1, Indian Idol 2 and Indian Idol 3, Sony Entertainment has announced Indian Idol 4. This time, The super hit reality show Indian Idol is now looking for singing talents from the UK to showcast their singing voices at locations across the country in the dream of competing in Indian Idol 4 in Mumbai. If you are living in the UK, you can take part in Indian Idol 4.

The auditions for Indian Idol 4 are going to be held in three places across the England. The details are as follows

Kailash Kher is set to judge Indian Idol 4

Kailash Kher, known for his soul singing, is set to judge Indian Idol season 4 along with Sonali Bendre, Javed Akhtar and Annu Malik. Indian Idol’s fourth season is going to start from next month, registration and audition for Indian Idol 4 is already started. This season, Indian idol has retained its previous judges, Annu Malik and Javed Akhtar, while roped in new pair – Kailash Kher and sonali Bendre. Here is what Kailash Kher says about his new role…What got you to join Indian Idol?

I have been associated with Indian Idol before (Guest judge last season). It’s
a very good platform to find new talent. Have we not heard of cases where
people have sold their land to make albums and are now on the street? Here we
don’t charge a single penny. But there is one problem and that is to separate the good from the ordinary. Many non singers also land up at the auditions with false hopes. And when they
get rejected, they create a scene. But we have to focus on only finding true
singers.

One major criticism of reality shows is that the winners disappear after some
time?

The channel gives them so much exposure, what more can they do. Now it’s the
singers’ responsibility to start working hard. Their real journey actually begins
after the show ends. But it’s sad to see that instead of concentrating on their
music, these guys pay more attention to their hair, (applying gel) clothes (wearing
torn jeans) and shoes. They even start making girl friends. And this
criticism that reality shows dump their finds is totally wrong. Forget the
winners, even those who make it to the finals have managed to buy their own houses
in Mumbai, which is no small task.

Your take on the SMS voting?

Agreed SMS may have some biases but then similar mistakes can be made by the
judges as well. Even if we accept the argument that the best singers do
not win, they alone will survive in the long run, for this industry only
recognizes talent.

Public perception is that the judges’ fight is all staged?

Pubic perception is very short lived. As for differences of opinion,
they are bound to happen. Don’t our MP’s make big scenes in Parliament,
but no one accuses them of drama?

Don’t you think reality shows have been done to death?

Yes given the large number of similar shows, quality has dropped.

Your previous reality show, Mission Ustaad bombed..

I am very proud to be associated with that great show, for it stressed on the
UN Millennium Development goals, a hope, I sincerely believe in. As for
the show not doing well, these things happen. Firstly 9X is still a
fledging channel and secondly when you have to compete with scantily clad
girls, your ratings are bound to suffer.

Indian Idol 4 – Show Format

After successful previous session, Sony entertainment television’s reality show Indian Idol is going to start in fourth season. Indian Idol 4 auditions are going to start from 7Th May. Here are more details about the format of Indian Idol 4.

Entry procedure for Indian Idol

The Contestants may register to participate in the Regional Auditions of the Competition via a phone registration process and completing an application form available at the audition venues at the Regional
Auditions. The Competition is open to individuals aged between 16 and 30 on April 1, 2008 and citizens of India.

The Theatre Audition Round

The Final 100 will be invited to participate in the next round of the Competition to be held in Mumbai in June/July 2008. As soon as reasonably practicable following completion of the Theatre Audition Round, the Contestants will be notified who has been selected by the Judges to be one of the Final 30 going through to the Piano Shows of the Competition.

The Piano Shows

The Final 30 will be divided into 3 groups of 10 (ten) Contestants. Piano round of Indian Idol will run between June 2008 to October 2008. From Piano round 11 contestant will be selected for Spectacular round by public voting. Those who are not selected in Piano round will enter into ‘Wild Card Round’ and one contestant will be selected by public voting to participate in spectacular round.

The Spectacular

Final 12 will compete with each other in Spectacular round which will run over the course of 12 weeks from November 2008 to February 2009. At the end of every week one contestanat will get eliminate by public votes until only 2 Contestants – the Finalists – remain in the Competition.

The Final of Indian Idol 4

The final will take place at around February 2009. The winner will be chosed by public voting.

Indian Idol 4 Audition details

After successful three sessions, Indian Idol is going to be in the forth season. Indian Idol Season 4 registration began on April 1st, 2008. The show proposes that auditions will take place in Calcutta, Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Gwalior and Lucknow, with the possibility of other cities being added in the future. The fourth season will see Anu Mallik and Javed Akthar on the hot seats as they take judges’ chair once again for the show.

Prashant Tamang is the winner of Indian Idol 3

Prashant Tamang, a constable in the West Bengal Police, was on Sunday crowned Indian Idol after vanquishing his rival Amit Paul in a grand finale of the over-two month long talent hunt.

Tamang, 24, who hails from Darjeeling, has undergone a journey from being a member in the police band in Kolkata to becoming the heart throb of millions of TV viewers all over the country.

The grand finale was an all North-East affair as Tamang took on 24-year-old Paul, who hails from Shillong.

The results of the talent hunt were announced at a gala in New Delhi with the final witnessing a whopping seven crore people sending in their votes.

Tamang stole the centrestage with his rendition of the song Yeh Kali Kali Ankhen from the Hindi film Baazigar .

As Bollywood actor John Abraham announced Tamang the winner, the constable thanked his mother in a voice choked with emotion.

“I thank my mother, public and Bengal police for granting me the permission for participating in the show,” he said.

Abhijeet Sawant’s Junoon – An awasome song Video

Abhijeet Sawant made a massive splash with his debut album AAPKA ABHIJEET. Post his crown winning performance in the first edition of INDIAN IDOL, Abhijeet has been making his moves carefully and after AAPKA ABHIJEET took a breather to come up with his next album ‘Junoon’.

Titled ‘Junoon’, the first song from his new album is out on the small screen. The beauty of the ‘Junoon’ lies in the fact that it has been set up in Ladakh.

Shot innovatively with great visuals being it’s hallmark, the song is a departure from the kind of work Abhijeet has done in the past and marks his arrival as an artist who has only matured over the period of time.

Prashant Tamang’s fans find their SMSes blocked – Indian Idol brews storm in Darjeeling

Voting for Indian Idol 3 went awry after a large number of SMSes sent from Darjeeling through cellular service provider Reliance were not delivered. Darjeeling has been rooting for local boy Prashant Tamang, who had made it to the Piano round of the contest.

Tamang, a constable with the Kolkata Police, had the entire police force in Kolkata and West Bengal voting for him. Sentiments ran high in Darjeeling and residents sent bulk SMSes to ensure the local boy was among the top 10 finalists.

But, to their dismay, a large number of Reliance subscribers found that their SMSes hadn’t been transmitted. That triggered a rage in the hills.

Agitated subscribers damaged a Reliance outlet and burnt hoardings and kiosks on Saturday. They took out a rally protesting against the inefficiency of cellular service providers in delivering their SMSes in support of Prashant.

Although complaints were against all cellular service providers, Reliance bore the brunt as its subscriber base is the largest in the area.

For four hours, the mob went on a rampage, targeting Reliance retail outlets. Even police were unable to rein in the agitators.

Earlier too, subscribers had complained about their SMSes not being delivered and warned of protests if services were not restored. Subscribers were hard-pinched too, as each SMS for an Indian Idol vote cost Rs 3.

When contacted, Sony Television, which produces the show, was hopeful that the problem would be sorted out soon.

“We have heard about the huge uproar in Darjeeling. Basically, the area does not have the capacity to carry the huge load of SMSes. So, it’s either getting blocked or the delivery is taking a long time. We have spoken to the operators of that area to rectify it as early as possible. We have requested them to install enough capacity so that people can vote for their favourite contestant,” said Kaushal Modi, head, licensing and telephony, with Sony.

Indian Idol 3 has now entered the Finals and the Door to the Galas is wide open for the 11 finalists, who have been picked by the Audience. The Acid Test will Begin Soon, as the Countdown to crowning the Indian Idol – Bharat Ki Shaan has started.
